Guitar Hero 5 es un video juego y el quinto en la entrada principal de la serie Guitar Hero. El juego será desarrollado por Neversoft y publicado por Activision y RedOctane. Se dará a conocer internacionalmente en septiembre de 2009. Similar al anterior título, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5 está destinado a jugar en una banda de cuatro personas , incluyendo guitarra y el bajo, batería, y voz. El juego estará disponible como un título independiente, permitirá a los jugadores utilizar los instrumentos compatibles, en un paquete que viene con estos. Guitar Hero 5 añade varias características nuevas, tales como drop-in/drop-out, bandas compuestas de cualquier combinación de instrumentos disponibles, un modo competitivo Rockfest constituida por varios mecanismos distintos de puntuación, y ambos desafios de cancion o generales para desbloquear nuevos retos, avatares, ropa y otros extras en el juego. Muchos de estos cambios se han añadido para que el juego sea una experiencia más social, permitiendo que los jugadores, a través de una gama de niveles de habilidad, jugar en cooperación y competencia entre sí a nivel local y en línea.
